As we announced, Georgia Power Company has treated the navigational channels for the parrot feather weed. If you have an infestation around your boathouse and dock or in your cove, you are responsible for treating those areas. Also, as the previous email stated, you must apply to the GPC to get permission to have a private contractor treat your areas. Below is the link to that GPC application and a list of contractors other members have used with the permission of the GPC. As is the policy of the LRA, we are not recommending or endorsing any of these contractors. However, to protect the ecology of the lake, we feel it is important that you responsibly treat for the parrot feather weed using known firms successfully used by other members. We also strongly recommend that before using any firm using aquatic herbicides that you ask for referrals and to contact those referrals. It is not recommended, nor is it permissible, to self treat your areas without the permission of the GPC.
