2020 Sales Update
| 2020. A Year Like No Other! Little did we know, at this time last year, what would be in store for the year of 2020. The year started off in the usual quiet manner of many years before, but by March the Covid 19 pandemic was gathering forces that were unseen by many. Most started quarantining at their homes and slowly people started to realize that the Rabun County lakes provided a new scene for social distancing. People started looking for rentals and when they quickly disappeared, they turned to the options that were for sale on the lakes. Quickly the lake market caught fire and people were out looking in force. Record sales were recorded on all three lakes, and by late summer, inventories were at historic lows. The Lake Team is extremely grateful to their many wonderful buyers and sellers in 2020 that have allowed us to exceed $55,000,000 in lake sales this year. This year sales brings us to a total of more than $370,000,000 over the last 10 years. We count ourselves very fortunate to be able to give back to our community through the Northeast Georgia Food Bank, Hambidge Center, and the Lake Rabun and Lake Burton community groups. Now with the coming of 2021, we are beginning to see a renewed sense of hope—- and light at the end of a dark tunnel. The highly anticipated vaccine will provide needed relief to many Americans and will allow some sense of a new normal to return. Yet we should never forget the many people and their families that have fallen in death and to the ill effects of this virus. —–As we end 2020 and launch into a new year, we want to say a big THANK YOU to all of our sellers and buyers! We want to wish everyone a New Year of peace, good health, laughter, and a multitude of kindness to one another. Our gratitude goes out to all that have contributed to and been a part of our success. Below are a few wrap-up facts for the past year. 132 lake homes sold in 2020 compared to 63 lake homes sold in 2019.2018 was the previous best year that saw 89 homes sold.The Lake Team sold 28 lake homes in 2020.The Lake Team has now sold 208 lake homes with a sales volume of $370 millionHarry Norman Realtors Luxury Lake and Mountain listed the majority of the sold homes.Harry Norman Realtors Luxury Lake and Mountain represented the majority of the lake home buyers. One year ago, there were 75 lake properties for sale on the Rabun County lakes. Today, there are only 31 properties for sale on all three lakes! New and quiet listings are selling quickly and in some instances at full asking price. |
