This year at Thanksgiving The Lake Team gave a donation to the Northeast Georgia Food Bank in Clayton. In addition to giving a donation, we decided to take a tour of the amazing facility. We were beyond impressed with the facility and all it has to offer. This is not just your typical Food Bank warehouse- it has a teaching kitchen and a commercial kitchen! Their mission is, “to work toward ending hunger as part of an overall community effort to alleviate poverty.” They work with over 225 soup kitchens and other non-profit hunger relief organizations including programs specific to childhood hunger- Food 2 Kids provides weekend meal bags, Food 2 Kids 360 provides during the summer months, Food 2 Tots provides weekend meals to children who are not school aged yet, and the Mobile School Food Pantry provides bulk food directly to families.  Nobody is turned away and often the staff goes above and beyond to provide guidance and services beyond food. It is comforting to know our community is in good hands!
