From the Lake Rabun Association:
Due to maintenance work that is ending at Mathis Dam, the Lake Rabun drawdown will start Monday, October 26, 2020. This will allow our contractors to finish removing equipment from the lake. You have probably noticed that we have raised the lake level to accommodate for this removal process. The drawdown will continue to stay on schedule to be drawn down 10’ feet by November 4, 2020 following this change in start date. The schedule is as follows: Revised Drawdown Schedule: October 26, 2020 Starts down gradually from Normal (1687.5-88.0 elevation) November 4, 2020 10’ feet down (1677.6 elevation) December 24, 2020 Begins Refilling December 31, 2020 Normal Pool (1687.5-88.0) To receive a construction permit for new structures or for maintenance of existing structures, a construction application must be submitted to Georgia Power for approval. Applications must be reviewed and approved by Georgia Power before starting construction. These applications can be found on our website at www.georgiapower.com. During the drawdown, fluctuations in the level of the lake may occur daily due to generation, rainfall, or other events. Therefore, equipment should not be left unattended. If you have any questions regarding the drawdown or if we can assist you in any way, please do not hesitate to call our office at 706-746-1450. |
