Welcome Lake Life 2022
Summer at the lake officially kicked off last weekend with a bustle of activity — despite the unwelcome flooding. Many buyers are earnestly trying to find a lake home, and we are trying our hardest to find them the right home.
The chart below quickly tells the story of lake sales for the past 20-plus years. New listings and closings hovered around 35 a year for many years. As prices increased, more homes began appearing on the market as homeowners realized there was “gold in them thar hills” and many decided to cash in. With the financial crisis of 2008, inventory edged up, and sales stagnated. As things settled down, word of our paradise began to spread, demand increased, and sales continued to grow, spiking last year with the enormous desire for a retreat due to the pandemic. We now face minimal inventory on all three lakes.
One year ago, there were 11 properties for sale on our three lakes. Currently, there are nine properties for sale — an improvement over last month when there were only five properties for sale.
