One of my dear lake friends will text me and ask if I am in Atlanta or in “The Hills.” I love this because “The Hills” are what make these North Georgia Lakes, Lake Burton, Lake Rabun and Lake Seed, so special.Each of these special lakes are nestled in the mountains, or as we call them, “The Hills.” “The Hills” are what allow us to have a Lake house and a Mountain house all in one. The above picture is my favorite sight as I am driving up from Atlanta to our “Happy Place” on Lake Rabun. It is just past the turnoff to Toccoa. When I go through the light and round the corner and see “The Hills” in the distance, I can truly feel the stresses of Atlanta disappear and a smile appears on my face. My children one time asked me with their teenaged sarcasm if I planned to comment on “The Hills” EVERY TIME we drove to the lake. I quickly answered them with an emphatic YES! I told them that I will always appreciate the beauty of “The Hills” and what they represent to me- I am almost at my “Happy Place.”
